Tejaswini Sawant scripted history by becoming the first Indian woman to clinch gold at the World Shooting Championships when she won the 50m rifle prone event on August 8, equaling the world record in the process, while shooter Gagan Narang won the bronze in the 10 metre air rifle event at the World Championship in Munich and became the first Indian to qualify for the 2012 London Olympics.
