Raj Thackeray demanded that the Maharashtra Energy Regulatory Commission (MERC) should withdraw the power tariff concessions announced for malls, multiplexes and construction sites. He has threatened to stop work at these sites if the MNS demand was not accepted by MERC in the next two days. Mahavitaran had proposed to raise the tariff for these three categories to Rs 9.81 per unit from the existing Rs 7.39. But the commission decided to reduce it to Rs 7.15 per unit.
