Montagus Harrier: - The word Harrier is derived from the old English hergian-to harass by hostile attacks.There are 16 species of harriers in all over the world, and 6 species found in India, Eurasian Marsh harrier, Montagus harrier and Pallid harrier, Eastern marsh harrier, Hen Harrier and pied harrier. Eurasian Marsh Harrier, Pallid and Montagus harriers are widely distributed in India, and the eastern marsh harrier and Hen harrier are commonly seen towards north and eastern parts of our country up to Assam. The pied Harrier is the only species breed in Assam.
