President of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa, at the inauguration of the second summit of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) in New Delhi on Thursday , 13 November 2008. India and six other members of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi- Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) are expected to spell out ways to enhance trade and connectivity during the Summit. The one-day second summit, to be attended by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and leaders from Bangladesh, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and Thailand, is expected to focus on forging closer integration of the member countries that spread across South Asia and East Asia.
